Special #1: Shiro-Abyhanga-Nasya
This season, don’t let allergies, colds
and sinus problems get you down! Treat your
sinuses and head to an Ayurvedic procedure
known as Shiro-Abyhanga-Nasya.
Shiro-Abhyanga-Nasya
(S-A-N) is a luxurious combination of a deep
head, neck and shoulder massage, a facial
lymphatic massage, deep inhalation of
therapeutic aromatic steam for the nasal
passages, followed by a nasal and sinus Nasya
with herbalized nose drops. This popular
treatment is an invaluable tool for balancing
most sinus, head and neck disorders.
Our S-A-N treatment cleans,
lubricates and strengthens the mucous
membranes, keeping the nasal passages open,
and increasing resistance to foreign
particles. Massaging the head increases fresh
oxygen (prana) and glucose supply to the brain
by improving the circulation of spinal fluid
and blood to the brain.

Special #2: Thai Massage
Thai Massage has it's roots in the ancient
medicine of Ayurveda. The influence of Yoga is
also present in the body positions and the
stretches that are part of Thai massage. There
are many similarities with Chinese acupressure
as well. The original precepts of Thai massage
were recorded in the Pali language of early
Buddhist texts. The original practitioners
were Buddhist monks in Northern Thailand in
the 1st & 2nd centuries B.C. Traditional
Thai Massage has survived into modern times
due to it's preservation in the Wats (Buddhist
Temples) of Thailand, which have served as
centers of education, healing and sprituality.
Thai massage is performed
on a mat on the floor, rather than on a raised
table. This allows for many movements as
procedures, as well as for proper use of the practitioner's
body weight, rather than mere muscular force
used in other types of massage. Along with
bodily movements and stretching, Thai Massage
consists primarily of pressure on the body's
energy lines and pressure points. These are
called "Sen" lines and are the same
as the "Nadis" of Ayurveda, and
similar to the meridians of Acupressure.
The purpose of Thai Massage
is to provide relaxation and balance to the
body's various centers, healthy blood
circulation, and activation of the body's
energy lines. It is meant to be practiced with
a certain energy and vigor, and the pressure
and stretching movements are matched to the
clients needs and physical abilities.
