I want to thank you, Richard, for the wonderful
consultation this past Saturday. I have been
taking the herbs regularly this past week and
will continue to do so since I feel so good
working with them along with breath and diet.
Apart from the words spoken, I feel as if you
truly opened a window during the consultation to
something quite deep that can only come from
connection with vidya.
I walked with away with much new insight and
understanding of mind and connections to body and
breath. Realizations have continued to bubble
open since the consultation and I am profoundly
thankful for having met with you.
I will recommend you to my yoga students. I'd
like to stop by sometime and pick up more cards
at some point. And I will have a follow-up some
time soon.

"I have yearned to understand the profound mystery and intelligence of Ayurveda in a simple, direct and applicable way. I don't just want to know it, I want to live it. More than any other teacher, Richard's teachings are direct, engaged, applicable and yet profound, stopping the mind and opening the heart to a life of balance."

In Patangali's Yoga Sutras, he details the seven limbs or steps of yoga - the literal translation of "Astanga". What most of us in the west know and understand yoga to be, the physical or Hatha part, is, in Patangali's discourse, the third step. The first two steps, the Yamas, and Niyamas, have to do with right relationship to the self and to the world around you. So accordingly, until one was acting in a way that was non harmful to their self and non harmful to those people and things around them, the physical practice would be of little benefit. This class of Richard's gives you the opportunity to actually experience the core, the fundamental essence of what it feels like and what it means to actually work with your body - what Patangali's first step, the Yamas embody. Anyone wanting to unleash the potential benefits of a yoga practice would do well to start here at step one. And if you are teaching yoga, and are not including the essence of this material, you may be providing instruction of the asanas or poses, but without this step, you are likely missing the heart of the teachings.
If you do not practice or are not interested in yoga, this material will still help to guide you to a balanced place where ultimately no effort is required to move through your day, stay healthy, and get more out of life. For anyone interested in uncovering the secrets of their healthy self, or for those helping others to uncover the secrets of their health, this course is a must!
The heart of the art, is the art of the heart, and it can be found in the body of this work.

Thanks so much for teaching the Ayurveda class. The breathing and routine have helped me a lot.
I use the breathing to stay balanced. I have always fluctuated between being stressed and relaxed, and by using the breathing I can stay in the moment and stay relaxed. The breathing also shows me when I need to rest. If I can't do the breath, I need to slow down. I have struggled for years trying to stay unstressed and this is the best tool I use now. An added benefit is that I feel wonderfully alive: things smell, look and feel better to me. Memories of past times of joy flood me when I breathe deeply. Sometimes memories of sorrow or fear come as well, but I just breathe and relax through the feelings. I feel so powerful and free. I am beginning to understand why accepting my limits makes me limitless.
The routine has helped me stay more focused and calm throughout the day. I used to eat every two hours or so to keep from getting low blood sugar. In the morning I especially had unfocused thoughts, weakness, and woozy feelings until I would eat breakfast. Now I wake up fine. I do yoga, think a while, meditate, and then eat breakfast about an hour after rising, with no low blood sugar. What a difference. I spend a couple hours preparing and eating lunch, and I consider it time well spent. I can really taste food again. It is a joy.
Thanks again for teaching the class.

I sought out Ayurvedic treatment because I had a growing list of symptoms which felt as though my body was getting way out of hand. I needed help in understanding what was happening to me. All in all I had always been a very healthy, very strong, very athletic person. Anytime I had a symptom, with the help of the universe, I was able to heal or rid myself of that symptom. Now I felt overwhelmed with all that was happening to me. I had always used alternative medical resources and felt that with my growing list of symptoms I needed something that I hadn’t tried yet. The word Ayurvedic came to mind and I did a Google search on the Internet for Ayurvedic in Portland Oregon and up came Ayurveda Plus Rejuvenation Center. I looked up that webpage and called Richard Haynes. When I first met Richard I was immediately drawn into his warm, open, patient, and inviting nature. I knew I would be able to work with this man. I had three sessions with Richard. After the first session many of my symptoms started to go away. He explained the importance of breath and breathing and how to breathe properly. That in and of itself has changed my life forever. In the second session he explained how to breathe and exercise. By the third session more then half of my symptoms were gone and this was only over a two-week period. With Richard’s help I now have a new way of eating, breathing, and exercising. I have a daily routine that strengthens my being.
Blessings,
Mara

"Richard Haynes' class, The Essence of Ayurveda, helped to demonstrate experientially the importance of proper exercise, the use of a conscious breathing technique to promote physical healing. These teachings can be applied to yoga or any other form of physical exercise, leading to increased energy levels and a calmer mind. I highly recommend this course for a deeper understanding of the science of yoga and of life in general."

The experience of being loved and cared for — the quality of heart brought to the experience — the overall scope of the (treatments and everything). In between — all the procedures and techniques all of which felt cleansing nurturing and rejuvenating — the synergy of Donna and Carrie working together as one body & mind — allowed for relaxation and harmony within myself — the oil, the steam, the towels, the hearts, getting in touch with the breath, made this an unforgettable experience.

The Music, the warm temperature of the room, technicians, were wonderful women. The hot towels, steam, hot oil and touch was heaven. The lunches were delightful!
Thank you Richard for making such a meaningful and powerful experience possible. Being in a new & different environment with strangers is stressful for me, this, however was OK.

How can I thank you for what you and Pam gave me this past week? I am having trouble finding the words... and my throat is getting clogged right now as I'm typing... it wasn't just instruction you gave me... but hope and inspiration and a way to teach myself. It's like I have some dignity back regarding the whole process of nourishing my body now. I can let my body guide me, instead of thinking/ feeling that I have to be in control of it. It's more of a partnership thing now... all the treatments and love that I received from the two of you have shifted more than my body mind... the shift is with my spirit and the way I'm allowing myself freedom... to be what I am, to feel how I feel, to be guided by my own instincts rather than things that are external... and having a unique way to begin again in valuing my own specialness. I guess the only thing I can say is, again, THANK YOU both. I'm so grateful that Spirit brought you to me in this way. I feel like I've expanded my circle of friends, family, and resources for healing... it's all very amazing, isn't it?
Well, I'm going to 'get quiet' now... but be assured that I will e you if I need anything... or call. I'm already missing Pam's drawl and warm smile and your direct and clear way of 'seeing' me. If there's anything the two of you ever need... feel free to call me, too. I would be more than happy to find a way to serve you both as you have served and honored me:-)
Love and Light...

Panchakarma through Ayurveda Plus is a nurturing and healing experience for body, mind and spirit. I experienced profound silence, which is always the basis for deep healing and letting go. The treatments helped the body return to its natural state by rebalancing. This supports ones natural expression in a way of relaxation and peace.
Richard’s vision is to offer the refinement of Ayurvedic healing in an atmosphere of love and joy. He and his staff are giving this gift in a beautiful way.
Thank you,
